How this list is drawn

A lender appears here when it runs an asset-based lending desk or lists asset-based lending among its published products, or when one of its products lends against a borrowing base covering both receivables and inventory. Stocking and floor-plan finance for dealers, which lends against inventory alone, is not included.

What to know

Asset-based lending sizes a facility on what the business owns rather than on a multiple of its earnings. The lender advances a set percentage against eligible receivables, a lower one against inventory, and separate percentages against plant and property, all tested against a borrowing base that moves with the balance sheet.

It suits businesses with substantial working capital, seasonal swings, or an asset base worth more to a lender than their earnings, and it is often paired with a cash-flow term loan. The guide to asset-based lending sets out typical advance rates and costs.
