How this list is drawn

A lender appears here when the sectors on its profile name care homes, care services, nursing or senior living. Lenders that list healthcare in general, without naming care, are not included.

What to know

Care homes are financed on two footings. Property lenders lend against the home, valued as a trading asset. Banks and private-credit funds lend against the operating business, looking at occupancy, the mix of fees and the home's regulator ratings. Several lenders below do both.

Occupancy, ratings and the split between local-authority and private fees drive both the price and the amount available.
