This page exists so that anyone writing about the firm can get the facts right without asking, whether they are a journalist, a researcher, a directory or a machine. The boilerplate below may be used verbatim. The company facts are the canonical versions. The research figures carry their as-at dates and a suggested citation, and restate the standing reference pages they come from. Long, about 120 words

Solon Corporate Finance is an independent debt advisory firm for UK lower-mid-market companies: businesses typically generating £1-8m of EBITDA and raising facilities of £3-15m. The firm advises on acquisition and buyout financing, growth and capex facilities, refinancings and recapitalisations, running a competitive process across the whole lending market: clearing and specialist banks, private-credit funds and asset-based lenders. Solon is retained and paid by the borrower alone, with no lender panel and no lender remuneration. The firm publishes standing research on UK corporate credit, including its analysis of the UK refinancing wall drawn from the Companies House charge register. Solon was founded by Gregory Elgunov, previously an investor in private credit and private equity at BlackRock, Permira, Allianz Global Investors and HSBC Global Asset Management.

The firm is “Solon Corporate Finance” on first reference and “Solon” thereafter. Solon is a debt adviser, not a broker, platform or lender.

Citable research figures

The refinancing-wall figures, with their dates attached.

Solon’s standing analysis of the UK refinancing wall is counted from the Companies House charge register. As at 7 July 2026, more than 14,500 UK lower-mid-market companies (14,675, of 26,383 dated refinancing windows in an 83,957-company sample) sit inside an estimated 2026-2028 refinancing window, and five banking groups hold 52.5% of the in-window paper. The method, the vintage story and the full tables are on the reference page, and the figures are updated there first: the UK refinancing wall, 2026 to 2028. A six-page typeset report is downloadable as a PDF, and the dated analysis of what the count means is in the refi wall, counted.

A second figure is available to cite, measured in August 2026 from the same register. Across 55,482 charge satisfactions filed within ninety days of a new charge at the same company, which identifies a refinancing rather than an administrative tidy-up, the median life of a UK secured facility is 3.9 years, with quartiles at 1.9 and 6.7 years. Read against every charge on the file, including those released late or never, median register life is 11.8 years, so an outstanding charge is weak evidence that the debt behind it is live. Method and limits are in the methodology note.
