For relationship managers

Declined on appetite, not on credit.

Every week a desk turns away a borrower it would have backed in a different sector, at a lower leverage, or a ticket size up. The borrower goes back to the incumbent with nowhere else to look. This is the place to send them. We run a whole-of-market process for the borrower, and the lender who referred them hears what happened.

Nothing is paid in either direction.

The borrower engages us as their adviser on the usual terms. No fee passes to the referring desk and none is asked of it. If a later deal for the same borrower fits your box, it comes across your desk complete, recorded in the process like any other lender contact, with no preference and no penalty for having declined the first time.

What you can say to the borrower: that a debt adviser will take the situation as it stands, read the market for it, and come back within a week with whether a process is worth running. What we send you: a line when we have spoken to them, and each quarter a note on where the referrals from your desk went.

Send the situation.

Sector, turnover, the facility they asked for and why it fell outside your box is enough. Names can follow once the borrower has agreed to be introduced. A line to deals@soloncorporate.com does the same job.
